I think I've mentioned before how much music is part of my life. It's my way of connecting with the world around me. It moves me and transports me from one place in time to the next. I also think I've mentioned how rainbows have special meaning in our family. They've appeared on special days or after special moments more than once. The day we brought Yaya home was just one.
After hearing Colbie Caillat's song Following a Rainbow on the radio today I recalled sitting next to Bird in the passenger seat during our trip to meet baby D. I also recalled asking him to keep his eyes peeled for rainbows in the sky. We don't get many clouds around here let alone much rain so when they show up we take notice. That day, I hoped with all my heart we would find a rainbow. I remember imagining us following it from one end to the other and finding our baby at the end. Crazy aye? I am not sharing this song or tidbit from a sad place. The song is actually quite cheerful and it really gave me a sense of hope. Don't you just love it when a song makes you feel light hearted and happy from the inside out? I know I do.
Click on the following link if you want to hear it Following a Rainbow. This song is really about a girl waiting for the love of her life but I think some of the lyrics work well for an adoption journey, too. Either way, it spoke to me today and I'm totally in love with it. I hope you enjoy it too.

Arw, I don't think it's silly at all! I am all about symbols. (I mean, look.at.what.I.do)
LOL, though, I definitely must say, after reading you heard this on the radio, it made me giggle and realize you and I listen to very different radio stations. Seriously, now, I did hear it, you are right, it is quite uplifting!
I pray for a rainbow to fall your way. I always do, I think about this more often than you realize. This song actually makes me a wee sad, I want to share your joys as well as your moments of, well, nonjoys, and you are so very far away. It's wistful for me, in that way.
I know there is another rainbow in your very near future.
Beautiful:)
I love it when the universe gives you the perfect theme song for what you are going through:-)
Ahh, what a beautiful song. I love it. I want the call to come so badly for you guys. You really never know, tomorrow could be the day. Hold to hope, and know it WILL happen.
Frizzy, awww, I have a thing about pennies because of my Nonny so I totally get it! My dear friends Derek & Kelly just adopted their first child, Isla Katherine through Bethany after 7 years of unexplained infertility and what a Godsend that baby girl is!!!
I miss you my friend. I don't know where to begin but can't do it now. I take Josh to his unit Sunday. I covet your prayers. Love ya bunches!!
What a pretty song.
I'm a big believer in signs (from God) too. Sometimes I don't see them right away...but looking back on certain events I'll see what I didn't first see.
I love your rainbow analogy. After a little rain, sweet bird. Did you every notice birds will sing, even if it's raining on them? Just keep singing Frizz - cuz He's always up there above the clouds you know.
And sumbunny got a li'l sum-thun in the mail today!!!
Thanks!
{{hugs}}
no matter what is going on in life, I'm always filled with hope when I see rainbows!
on a technical note, when you are looking at a YouTube video, there is a link to "embed" under it and to the right, you just copy the code, then you can paste it into Blogger. :)
