Last Thursday my parents celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. As you may recall, we were a little preoccupied and were unable to help them celebrate. Instead, we took them out for dinner at Tex Wasabi on Monday. Have you heard of it? It's owned by the Food Network star Guy Fieri, Host of Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives and Minute to Win It. The food and atmosphere were unique, tasty and definitely fun.
Anyway, I wish I could express how much my parents mean to me without sounding...cheesy but sometimes you just need the CHEESE. They are THE BEST PARENTS in the ENTIRE WORLD! They are the reason I wanted to become a parent/mom. As a kid, I couldn't wait to do all the fun things with my own kids that they did with my brother and I. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying these two lovebirds didn't embarrass me as a teenager. Let me count the ways. I'm not certainly not saying I thought they were cool when I had a curfew, got in trouble and then grounded from my friends, phone and tv. In fact back then, I probably told my friends how unfair they were for punishing me.
Looking back, I realize how blessed I am to have parents who cared enough about me not to be my "friend" but instead who chose to be the parents I needed. If it weren't for their guidance and love I probably would not have had the confidence in myself to go to college and become a Social Worker. I might not have known what self respect is and how a girl should be treated by a guy who really loves her. I might not have known that marriage isn't always hearts and warm fuzzies. I might not have known that marriage takes hard work, patience, dedication and endless love. I might not known how wonderful it is to be a parent. I might not have known the importance of having faith, hope, love and trust in God's plan. I might not have known that families begin when God is ready not when we are. I might not have learned how to love without condition or end.
I'm so thankful for the two of you. Your love is the foundation my world was built upon. I couldn't be any more blessed than I am today. I love you both so much. Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

Frizzy's parents were THE COOLEST when we were in school - even if she didn't think so back then! Mom made me LAUGH!!! And Mr. was just plain volleyball cool. The fact that they were high school (or was it junior high??) sweethearts was icing on the cake in my mind. I always thought that would be amazing.
