A little about me and my family...

My photo
My love of people, photography and the world began as a child. My family moved a lot and taking pictures was my way of remembering friends, capturing special places or moments and holding them close. Becoming a wife and a mother has always been a dream of mine and I count my blessings daily. I started this blog shortly after our daughter, Yaya joined our family through the blessing of adoption. Its purpose was to share pictures and stories about our life with family and friends. Later, it shared our adoption journey to our second daughter, Baby Bird as well. Now that our family is complete I like to think of it as our family’s journal or life book. I'm passionate about life, my family and preserving our history one snapshot at a time. The thing that amazes me most is the abundance of beauty God blesses us with every day and in the simplest ways if only we take the time to slow down and appreciate them.

Things I'm thankful for on my 37th birthday.

The calendar tells me it's April 22ND, the day I was born oh so long ago. I've been doing a lot of thinking since I received my first "birthday/annual physical reminder" card in the mail from my health insurance company last week. OK maybe thinking isn't quite the word I would use. I've been wallowing in self pity that I've officially hit the age where others think I need to be reminded of important things like your annual physical via a "birthday card."

"What does one do to celebrate such a monumental milestone?" Should I could cry, throw a fit or maybe take the card's advice and schedule my annual physical? HECK NO! I've decided to celebrate who "I am" and remind myself of 37 wonderful things I have to be thankful for. Here goes...

37 Things I'm Thankful For (in no particular order):
1. God
2. my parents
3. my brother and nephews
4. Bird
5. Yaya
6. my grandparents and extended family
7. my in laws ALL OF THEM
8. my friends
9. my health and that of my family
10. a roof over my head
11. food in the fridge
12. my mind
13. my education
14. freedom of speech
15. right to vote
16. I'm a woman
17. I'm a mother
18. our 3 insane and sweet dogs
19. my life
20. my experiences good and bad
21. my future
22. my ability to make choices for myself and my family
23. my church
24. my faith
25. my blog
26. my blog friends
27. my thyroid medicine (Yes, I'm even thankful for it.)
28. chocolate
29. the Internet and FACEBOOK
30. clothes on my back and my family's too
31. the earth and all it's wonders
32. my husband's job and income
33. passion
34. the rain
35. the sun
36. the stars and moon
37. all the places I've traveled.

IF your birthday is today Happy Birthday to you. If you've hit a milestone you weren't aware of or have dreaded how did it effect you? How did you try to change your attitude or mindset about it?
Happy Earth Day EVERYONE!

Happy Happy Birthday, Frizzy...

"...OK ... I've been wallowing in self pity that I've officially hit the age where others think I need to be reminded ..." Just absolutely WONDER!!fully said, Frizzy. You made me laugh out loud.

"If you've hit a milestone you weren't aware of..." You made me think of this. I hit a milestone I was fully aware of hitting when I turned 30 and it's not one you might imagine. The surprise is that I didn't know the effects would be so longlasting. You see, I was THRILLED to not be 29 anymore. And I remain surprisingly INCREASingly thrilled I'm not 29 and will never be 29 again :) ! I LOVE birthdays because of the increasing distance between me and 29. As you can see, 29 and I didn't get along very well :) .

Again, Happy Happy Birthday to you :) !
