A little about me and my family...

My photo
My love of people, photography and the world began as a child. My family moved a lot and taking pictures was my way of remembering friends, capturing special places or moments and holding them close. Becoming a wife and a mother has always been a dream of mine and I count my blessings daily. I started this blog shortly after our daughter, Yaya joined our family through the blessing of adoption. Its purpose was to share pictures and stories about our life with family and friends. Later, it shared our adoption journey to our second daughter, Baby Bird as well. Now that our family is complete I like to think of it as our family’s journal or life book. I'm passionate about life, my family and preserving our history one snapshot at a time. The thing that amazes me most is the abundance of beauty God blesses us with every day and in the simplest ways if only we take the time to slow down and appreciate them.

One of Those Weeks

It's been one of those weeks where anything and everything gets in the way of all that you want to do. Yaya started having issues sleeping again and was fighting us tooth and nail. She didn't want to sleep in her room. We kept taking her back in and tucking her into her own bed from midnight til 3:30-4 in the morning Sunday. Let's just say, none of us got any sleep and a lot of crying happened. Monday, was a bit of a blur. She was mad at me I was frustrated and exhausted from no sleep. Thankfully, my mom and dad came to the rescue and took her for a few hours that evening. We have decided that at the age of 2, yes I said, "2" PEOPLE she has outgrown naps. No nap on Monday and she slept like a baby from 9:00 P.M. til 8:15 A.M. Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning, we were up and off to Bible Study by 9:30 A.M. (We were a little late as I couldn't miss President Obama's Inauguration.) After Bible study, we ate lunch with our friends and she played at the mall playground for an hour or so. She still wasn't tired! Took a walk with daddy, played in the park and in our back yard. Her day ended with a slumber party at my parent's that night. NO NAP! I was exhausted! Why wasn't she? She slept all night without any problems again so cancelling the afternoon nap may be the answer. Wednesday was much of the same busy busy busy and no nap. Last night she slept from 9:00 P.M. until 9:00 this morning. No fights about where she would sleep either. She just plain zonked! I haven't been blogging in the evenings because Bird is focused on applying for jobs on line. Getting a new job is of course first priority. Thank you for your continued prayers re. his employment. It's raining today and we've decided to head to the zoo to meet our friends anyway. Got our umbrellas and raincoats so we might as well use them right?! I will post something of more importance when time allows. Hopefully, it'll include pictures of some sort. Sorry I haven't been able to stop by and comment but without Yaya's nap time and no computer in the evenings available I'm kinda out of luck and out of the loop!

The kids I nanny for don't always nap but I force them to do 'quiet time' in their room where they just relax and look at books and stuff for an hour. That way I can get laundry and stuff done (and get a 'mental' break from them). Plus I think it's good for them to have some downtime in their little brains and bodies from being so active all day.

Acupuncture is awesome. I've had a lot of friends try it and they've never complained about their acupuncturist, only raved about the experience!

Ohhhh, some kids do that! I don't know how I would cope with that craziness. Hope she does give you some sort of down time during the day, 2 year olds have insane amounts of energy!

Ugh... what a week you had! Hope its getting better for you!

Why is it kids have bundles of energy?!!?!? Where do they get it?!!?!?!

I can't remember how old my kids were when they stopped taking naps. From time to time, M will still go lay down by herself... sometimes she falls asleep, sometimes she doesn't. I think having Yaya take some "quiet time" is a good idea... where she doesn't have to take a nap but where she has to play quietly or look at books in her room or bed...

We understand about not being able to get around to comment... I get behind, too!

On yes, the sweet slumber! I find a steady bedroutine and bedtime and no television before bed works for me.

Good luck to hubby with the jobfinding. BTW - I just love your playlist - exactly my kind of music.
