A little about me and my family...

My photo
My love of people, photography and the world began as a child. My family moved a lot and taking pictures was my way of remembering friends, capturing special places or moments and holding them close. Becoming a wife and a mother has always been a dream of mine and I count my blessings daily. I started this blog shortly after our daughter, Yaya joined our family through the blessing of adoption. Its purpose was to share pictures and stories about our life with family and friends. Later, it shared our adoption journey to our second daughter, Baby Bird as well. Now that our family is complete I like to think of it as our family’s journal or life book. I'm passionate about life, my family and preserving our history one snapshot at a time. The thing that amazes me most is the abundance of beauty God blesses us with every day and in the simplest ways if only we take the time to slow down and appreciate them.

A Turkey Coma

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Like many of you, I've been preparing for guests. We had 13 friends and family over yesterday and had a wonderful time. The food was yummy! I'll post pictures of it later. Fortunately, there wasn't time or room for anyone to settle into a turkey coma. The day consisted of the usual eating marathon, a nerf dart contest, a walk to the park and gingerbread cookie decorating. You'll never guess what the highlight was though... Much to my shagrin it wasn't the turkey or my homemade gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls or pumpkin pies.
It was a train set.
Yaya received her cousin's old train set Wednesday night. Bird spent about 3 hours putting it together when we got home. He wanted her to wake up with a surprise. Her eyes got HUGE as did the smile on her face when she saw it Thanksgiving morning. Even better is the fact that it became my new coffee table. HA! (Just my luck, it's too big for any other room in the house.) Family is headed back over today for leftovers so I better start preparing for round 2. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and are enjoying the great bargains on this rainy black Friday.

I had a good Thanksgiving... glad to hear you did, too!

I did go shopping... 1st time I've ever gone out shopping on Black Friday. My mom and I did some midnight madness shopping at the outlets. Um... madness indeed. I think I may do a post about our adventures. And I shall title the post:

NEVER. AGAIN.

What a lovely new coffee table you now have. ;)
She looks thrilled. Isn't that what life is all about.
Soon enough she'll be grown and you'll remember these days and wonderful.

Looks like you had a busy day! I love the train set! I wanted to tell you that I went ahead and sent a letter to that place we talked about. JP was nervous about doing it incase of a not guilty verdict, but it isn't looking too good for that to happen. I pretended the letter was from him with mom typing it, but he knew about it and said it was ok.
