A little about me and my family...

My photo
My love of people, photography and the world began as a child. My family moved a lot and taking pictures was my way of remembering friends, capturing special places or moments and holding them close. Becoming a wife and a mother has always been a dream of mine and I count my blessings daily. I started this blog shortly after our daughter, Yaya joined our family through the blessing of adoption. Its purpose was to share pictures and stories about our life with family and friends. Later, it shared our adoption journey to our second daughter, Baby Bird as well. Now that our family is complete I like to think of it as our family’s journal or life book. I'm passionate about life, my family and preserving our history one snapshot at a time. The thing that amazes me most is the abundance of beauty God blesses us with every day and in the simplest ways if only we take the time to slow down and appreciate them.

2020

I've heard, 20/20 is the best vision to have.
If this is true 2020 gave the world a new visual prescription.

2020 reminded us to find joy in little things then forced us to seek them out.

2020 showed us family means everything.

2020 brought us to our knees over and over to reveal someone else was worse off than we were.

2020 taught us new ways to help our children acknowledge and fight feelings of loneliness, depression, anxiety and fears.

2020 forced us to offer grace and love when anger, frustration and fear were all we truly felt.

2020 tethered our children physically closer to us than they've been in years or may ever be again.

2020 built stronger bonds between our family because we were forced to work through hard moments.

2020 tore apart our communities in more ways than we can count and instead of accepting defeat we fought for one another, we lifted one another up, we found ways to rebuild, to offer help and to love.

2020 made us stay 6 feet apart, covered our faces, kept us home and prevented us from touching one another.  Yet we grew closer in new ways like ZOOM, letter writing and being intentional with our time and energy.

2020 encouraged us to share our struggles with others and in doing so we found we weren't alone and we leaned on one another to get through the hard stuff.

2020 introduced new ways of doing things especially things that matter most like church, school, funerals and celebrations.

2020 divided our nation and shone a spotlight on the inequalities so many continue to face daily.  As a result more eyes have been opened and honest conversations are being had to further healing of our nation's grievous shortcomings.

2020 released a new appreciation for essential workers who keep us safe, provide us food, keep the world moving.

2020 allowed children to teach us to love, find joy and celebrate life through sidewalk chalk, a painted rock, a sign in a window or an online dance or choir performance.
