A little about me and my family...

My photo
My love of people, photography and the world began as a child. My family moved a lot and taking pictures was my way of remembering friends, capturing special places or moments and holding them close. Becoming a wife and a mother has always been a dream of mine and I count my blessings daily. I started this blog shortly after our daughter, Yaya joined our family through the blessing of adoption. Its purpose was to share pictures and stories about our life with family and friends. Later, it shared our adoption journey to our second daughter, Baby Bird as well. Now that our family is complete I like to think of it as our family’s journal or life book. I'm passionate about life, my family and preserving our history one snapshot at a time. The thing that amazes me most is the abundance of beauty God blesses us with every day and in the simplest ways if only we take the time to slow down and appreciate them.

Positive Thoughts and Prayers This Morning

Today is an exciting and scary day for a couple we know.  They are meeting a young couple who is considering them for their unborn child.  We met them at our first adoption in service at Bethany and automatically fell in love with them.  They are sweet and kind and faithful.  We have a lot in common with these two and seeing them be chosen would be such an amazing blessing!  They completed their paperwork and were on the waiting list here when they learned he was being transferred to Illinois.  You can imagine it brought up many questions and doubts about God's plan for them becoming parents.  Once they PCS'd they had to start the entire process all over again.  None of it has been easy for them.

Adoption isn't for the weak or the weary.  It takes an amazingly strong woman to stand up for her child and choose life when her own may not be going as she hoped or planned.  It takes an even stronger woman to carry her child safely for 9 months only to choose another couple to love, care for and raise him/her.  Honestly, I'm not sure I could do it and it's something I feel horribly guilty about.  I imagine this young woman/couple must be a nervous wreck as they meet our friends.

I am praying that our friends are able to be themselves.  I hope their light shines through and there are no doubts or questions after this meeting.  It takes a strong couple to survive the loss and pain of infertility and the long wait of adoption.  To have your profile rejected time and time again for some unknown reason. I can't imagine how hard it might be for them if after meeting this young couple they aren't chosen.
I am thinking about them all this morning and praying for peace with the decisions that lay ahead of them.  Will you please join me in praying for both couples as they meet and learn about one another and hopefully take the first steps to becoming a blended family?

Update:  Just got off the phone with C and A.  They've been chosen and the meeting went very well.  Lots of happy tears and some sad ones too.  She gave them copies of her ultrasounds and she has been writing them letters through her entire pregnancy.  As soon as she read their profile she knew they were perfect for her child/their child.  I'm thrilled to tell you our friends will be bringing a baby girl home possibly as soon as 6 weeks!  GOD IS SO GOOD!  OH HAPPY DAY!

Glad it went well. I was just talking with someone about the very same thing...adoption is not for the faint of heart (on either side.) I so want to have a match, too! And I know you do too!

I'll admit it, when I saw your blog post I so hoped it was the news I have been wishing for you.

You are such a wonderful friend. Even though I can imagine the pain of waiting, you know as well as I do when it's your baby, it's your baby.

Thinking of you.
