A little about me and my family...

My photo
My love of people, photography and the world began as a child. My family moved a lot and taking pictures was my way of remembering friends, capturing special places or moments and holding them close. Becoming a wife and a mother has always been a dream of mine and I count my blessings daily. I started this blog shortly after our daughter, Yaya joined our family through the blessing of adoption. Its purpose was to share pictures and stories about our life with family and friends. Later, it shared our adoption journey to our second daughter, Baby Bird as well. Now that our family is complete I like to think of it as our family’s journal or life book. I'm passionate about life, my family and preserving our history one snapshot at a time. The thing that amazes me most is the abundance of beauty God blesses us with every day and in the simplest ways if only we take the time to slow down and appreciate them.

Sprinkles

What is it about sprinkles that makes everything better and more fun?  Have you ever noticed the way a child's entire body language changes at the sight of them?

Eyebrows raise. Eyes light up as if the shine from the sprinkles is glaringly bright. Tiny fingers twitch while trying desperately not to touch. Smiles grow bigger and hope glimmers on a child's face. In Yaya's case, her entire body begins to jump for joy as she gleefully exclaims, "SPRINKLES!!!" The floodgates have crashed open leaving nothing left for her to do but ask, "Momma can I have (insert sprinkle coated item here)? PLEEEASE?!"

As soon as I saw the festive sprinkles I knew what I was going to make for her preschool class.
White chocolate dipped pretzel sticks with sprinkles!

All that's left to do now is pass them out and watch the magic of sprinkles begin.

I *just* told the kids today I want to make these for my Holiday Open House! I've never made them before. Is there a 'recipe' or instructions you follow?

T, All you have to do is melt white chocolate bark or white chocolate chips in a double boiler. Once they've melted dip the pretzel in. You might have to use a spoon to coat the pretzel. Allow the extra chocolate to drip off. Sprinkle with your favorite coating of chocolate, nuts, candy, etc. I found holding the freshly dipped pretzel in the freezer for 30-40 seconds seemed to help cool the outside faster so you could set them down on wax paper or foil without smashing the outside too bad. Once completely cool wrap in plastic bag and add a MK or decorative holiday tag.

Looks delicious! You're lucky that you get to do stuff like that for Yaya's class. I'm only allowed to bring packaged treats for my daughter, and it's not nearly as fun!
