A little about me and my family...

My photo
My love of people, photography and the world began as a child. My family moved a lot and taking pictures was my way of remembering friends, capturing special places or moments and holding them close. Becoming a wife and a mother has always been a dream of mine and I count my blessings daily. I started this blog shortly after our daughter, Yaya joined our family through the blessing of adoption. Its purpose was to share pictures and stories about our life with family and friends. Later, it shared our adoption journey to our second daughter, Baby Bird as well. Now that our family is complete I like to think of it as our family’s journal or life book. I'm passionate about life, my family and preserving our history one snapshot at a time. The thing that amazes me most is the abundance of beauty God blesses us with every day and in the simplest ways if only we take the time to slow down and appreciate them.

Summer Has Finally Arrived

Schools out for summer and we've been taking full advantage of it.
Two weeks ago we found a new place to picnic and hike with our friends. Even Nana has joined us on an excursion or two now that she's retired. Add in a fun bug/fish catcher kit from Costco and you've got yourself hours of fun in the sun. We started off the day by eating then headed off to find a waterfall. Unfortunately the girls just weren't up for the long haul. They were troopers and made it almost the entire way but we mom's decided we should turn back because neither of us had the energy to carry the girls out of the canyon once we reached our final destination. We did find a few nice places to relax in the shade. The girls really enjoyed stopping, closing their eyes and listening to the world around them. They loved sharing all the sounds they were hearing. By the time we climbed out of the canyon we were all thrilled to have cold watermelon waiting for us. Why does it always taste best when you're all hot and sweaty?

Honestly though, there's only one way to relax after a hot day in the sun
and that's by diving into a nice cool pool with your pappy.

What kind of fun activities have you all been doing so far this summer?

We are on our road trip. So far we have swum in a pool, fed baby calves, road ATV's and ran through a pasture. Summer is GREAT!!

Wow, you guys do SO much, travel and see SO much! (I'm referring to the last few posts here) We've not done anything really, of any consequence.

I personally LOATHE summer. I want it to pass quickly and rush into fall. It's hot, it's sweaty, the sun is so frigging bright! Swimsuit season. Shirt sleeves. Sweat marks. Runny makeup. Mosquitoes. Frizzy hair. BO. And shorts. How I hate them. I refuse to wear them. Ugh.

Texas, how I love thee, however I hate thy summers! I want to escape to Washington state or somewhere cooler until it ALL passes. A "reverse winter Texan," I want to be a Summer Washingtonian, or thereabouts! LOL Whee!

However, I commend you on having what seems to be most perfect summer!
