A little about me and my family...

My photo
My love of people, photography and the world began as a child. My family moved a lot and taking pictures was my way of remembering friends, capturing special places or moments and holding them close. Becoming a wife and a mother has always been a dream of mine and I count my blessings daily. I started this blog shortly after our daughter, Yaya joined our family through the blessing of adoption. Its purpose was to share pictures and stories about our life with family and friends. Later, it shared our adoption journey to our second daughter, Baby Bird as well. Now that our family is complete I like to think of it as our family’s journal or life book. I'm passionate about life, my family and preserving our history one snapshot at a time. The thing that amazes me most is the abundance of beauty God blesses us with every day and in the simplest ways if only we take the time to slow down and appreciate them.

Thank You

Wow! I just came from the Pioneer Woman's blog. Have you seen it? She's asked her readers to share photos of their loved ones "Coming Home." If you want a little Memorial Day Inspiration please go visit her blog. Be warned, you'll want to have some tissue next to you. These are gut wrenching photos of families captured in moments of reunification. Priceless.
I'll never forget the first time I understood the meaning of why we celebrate Memorial Day. It was the first anniversary of 9/11 and I was standing in the middle of Italy surrounded by thousands of tiny white crosses. Each cross held the name of an American man or woman who died serving our country during World War II. They never came home. That realization took my breath away.
Recently, a family near us lost their son while proudly serving our country. They placed a memorial for him in front of their home. His military photo is in the center surrounded by tons of balloons, flowers and lit candles. My heart breaks for them and their loss.
To all who have served our nation defending us and our freedom, THANK YOU!
Happy Memorial Day.

That must have been amazing to be there in Italy amongst all those soldiers who never made it home. My husband is a big WWII fan (well not a fan, but enjoys the history) and would love to travel to Europe and stand where those men stood. Happy Memorial Day!

That image strikes a deep chord. It is always difficult to read or hear about a serviceman or woman who has lost their life while on duty - probably one of the main reasons why I loathe to read the news sometimes. Happy belated Memorial Day.

It is a sobering holiday when you think about it. Sort of a remembering type celebration rather then a party day. So much to be thankful of to those who gave so much.
