You know the saying, "When it rains it pours?" Well, that's kind of how I think my friend must have felt when she heard we were coming "to town." In the middle of trying to find a new home for the family dog, downsizing her current home, staging said home for potential buyers AND making stipulations on the home they plan to build, I asked if she had a little "free time" to hang out. Many people would have said, "Sorry, I can't. Life is just too crazy right now." but...she said Yes. Do I have the greatest friends in the whole world or what?! All that said, you might recognize the girls in this picture with Yaya?
They are "Pookie" and "Sashi" from my high school friend, Karin's blog, 6 By His Design.
While we were in KC, Yaya and I took off on a small road trip to meet Karin and her girls for a playdate at McDonalds in Columbia. Columbia is about 2 1/2 hours from St. Louis and KC for those of you who aren't from around there.
I know how much effort it took to get there on her part and I appreciate it so much.
Sitting in the same room with Karin for the first time since my wedding made my heart sing. It's funny, you might think we would have tons of life to catch up on but our conversation began as if we had seen one another just yesterday. In some odd ways we had, thanks to technology like email, IM, Facebook, our family blogs and the telephone. To be completely honest, there's no substitute for the REAL THING.
I loved finally meeting her girls in REAL LIFE and having her meet Yaya too.
Reconnecting is a whole other experience when you can actually reach out and hug the person you care about or sit next to them in the same room. The best part of being together though was watching our girls play together. Like us, they hung out and played as if they had known each other all their lives. Precious Moments I tell ya! Absolutely PRECIOUS!
Karin, Thank you so much for taking time out of your crazy busy week to meet us half way. We had so much fun! I for one am still on cloud 9 after seeing you all. Next time we get together we'll have to make sure our boys come along too.

Tilapia and cod don't taste fishy at all. Ben doesn't like fishy fish, which is why I can cook tilapia and cod and he'll eat it.

Aw Girl! I'm just now catching up on some blogging - and saw this AMAZING post about our get-together! It really did seem like we were just continuing a decade-long conversation! I'm waiting to pull into McD's here in StL and see Yaya coming down the slide, you sipping a drink in the chair with a smile on your face...If only! But it seemed so 'real' in the midst of time! Does that make any sense??
We truly enjoyed ourselves! It was good to go with just the girlies. (Boys R icky!)
