A little about me and my family...

My photo
My love of people, photography and the world began as a child. My family moved a lot and taking pictures was my way of remembering friends, capturing special places or moments and holding them close. Becoming a wife and a mother has always been a dream of mine and I count my blessings daily. I started this blog shortly after our daughter, Yaya joined our family through the blessing of adoption. Its purpose was to share pictures and stories about our life with family and friends. Later, it shared our adoption journey to our second daughter, Baby Bird as well. Now that our family is complete I like to think of it as our family’s journal or life book. I'm passionate about life, my family and preserving our history one snapshot at a time. The thing that amazes me most is the abundance of beauty God blesses us with every day and in the simplest ways if only we take the time to slow down and appreciate them.

Date Night

Last Friday, we had the chance to go out with two other couples for date night. Let me stress the significance of this occassion. Three couples had three sets of grandparents watching three sets of kids OVERNIGHT. We have been friends for over a year and haven't had a date night without the kids until now. It was wonderful! No worries about how long the wait was for dinner or how long the service might take in case the kids went nuts. No diaper bags. No goody bags for entertaining kids. No worries about baths or bedtime stories. We had the night all to ourselves. No curfews. No limits. So what did we do? Dinner and a movie.

We kicked around lots of ideas. Bowling, Roller Skating, Dancing... In the end, we decided a movie (Avatar) and a quiet restaurant where we could all talk without interruptions sounded best. It was too! The funny thing about being parents is no matter if you're away from your kids for 5 minutes or 5 hours those precious babies aren't far from your thoughts. There we all sat at the Macaroni Grill drawing on the table clothes, laughing and what else talking about The Kids. We couldn't even stop drawing without them there? LOL

What a great idea! See? I love how you do friendship. One of my new year's resolutions that just sort of evolved is to make myself more available to my friends. I've enjoyed lunch 3x this week. Now I need to open the circle to the hubs, eh?
