A little about me and my family...

My photo
My love of people, photography and the world began as a child. My family moved a lot and taking pictures was my way of remembering friends, capturing special places or moments and holding them close. Becoming a wife and a mother has always been a dream of mine and I count my blessings daily. I started this blog shortly after our daughter, Yaya joined our family through the blessing of adoption. Its purpose was to share pictures and stories about our life with family and friends. Later, it shared our adoption journey to our second daughter, Baby Bird as well. Now that our family is complete I like to think of it as our family’s journal or life book. I'm passionate about life, my family and preserving our history one snapshot at a time. The thing that amazes me most is the abundance of beauty God blesses us with every day and in the simplest ways if only we take the time to slow down and appreciate them.

Housekeeping!!!

You may or may not notice a few changes around here. I'm in one of those funks. You know where you need a change but can't focus on any thought or project for more than a millisecond. Yep, that's me. So where did I start? I figured I would start with something easy. IE. TIDYING UP MY BLOG. What do you think I learned or should I say RE LEARNED about myself in the process? I re learned I'm an anal retentive freak! I am a creature of habit! I want my things on my blog to stay in the same place just like in my home. The towels should be hung just so. The toilet paper goes on the roll so it rolls over the top and towards you. My junk drawer is labeled and organized. My living room doesn't look clean if a blanket is left unfolded, toys aren't back in their proper place and the carpet hasn't been vacuumed at least once that day. Etc Etc Etc. Don't believe me? Just ask poor Bird! He'll tell you this is all very true! I like things the way they are and I just have to learn to live with myself. What's really amazing is I think I finally figured out WHY everything has it's own special space. If I move/change something chances are I WON'T FIND IT AGAIN or I'LL LOOK JUST LONG ENOUGH TO FORGET WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR OR DOING IN THE FIRST PLACE! See my problem? It's a VICIOUS CYCLE! So, back to the whole cleaning up my blog thing. I deleted a few gadgets and re added others I missed. I deleted the list of blogs I follow and who follow me from my layout page because I felt it was redundant. After all, you're all on my dashboard so why do I need you on my sidebar too? I'LL TELL YOU WHY...that extra click or two takes more time than my attention span or Yaya will allow.
There is no such thing as an "easy/quick" cleaning project not even when blogging. PLEASE SEND HELP!

Looks great so far! I have been thinking of doing the same, but as you said....it needs TIME! That I have too little of! :)

I'm so with you! Another anal retentive neat freak over here. Everything has a home and everything should be in it's home. Good luck with your "housekeeping" - it's never done is it?

Beautiful layout...happy blog keeping!! I am never quite content with my blog - I don't think I will ever be not wanting to change it (now if I only had the time to do it!!)

I hear you on that. The thing I don't care for in a blog's "look" is when there are so many links/awards/whatnot on TWO sidebars, left and right, that it distracts from the content. The "followers" thing makes me feel weird because it sounds as if I'm a religion. Hey look at all of my followers! Can't they put "readers" or "subscribers" instead?
