This is a very special weekend for one of my oldest friends. Oldest meaning LONGEST friendships not OLDEST friend. LOL!
I met CJ in the 8th grade. I was the new kid and it turned out we lived only a few blocks from each other. Soon we became BFFs. She had the other half of my BFF heart shaped necklace. Every day after school we would meet half way between our homes to "walk our dogs."
In reality, the purpose of our walks was to wander by a cute boy's home in hopes we might get to see or talk to him. Right CJ?:)
We talked about life and what we wanted to be when we grew up. We loved Daniel Steel books and music by Tiffany, Debbie Gibson and Def Leopard just to name a few. Heck a few times we even loved the same boys. LOL! We talked about our parents and siblings and how they drove us crazy. We passed spiral notebooks filled with notes to each other not individual pieces of paper. We figures we were less likely to get caught that way. Typical teenage stuff really.
We've been friends through some of the best years of our lives together and some of the hardest too. No matter where we are in our lives we find our way back to one another when it matters most! I would like to share a few highlights from our friendship in no certain order.
Here we are at Sr. Prom and our HS Graduation Parties.
We've played quite a few games together. Soccer, Mario Brothers and Pass an orange under your chin to a BOY! This game was your dad's idea of all people!

We've had slumber parties and watched countless movies like 16 Candles, Pretty in Pink, Dirty Dancing and The Wedding Singer. We've been roommates and we lived through a few pets, jobs, parties and even floods in basement of your first house.
We cried over a few boys, laughed, celebrated and even mourned together. I'm not including the names of the boys who broke our hearts to protect their innocence (or lack there of) in the crimes they committed against our hearts. ;)
I recall singing Poor Some Sugar On Me and I am Woman Here Me Roar at the top of our lungs together. In more recent years, singing Nursery Rhymes while riding with you and your daughters tops the list of my favorite memories. Thank you for your friendship my dear friend. I can't believe we've known each other for 21 years! It looks like many of your teenage dreams have come true. I see them every time I look at a picture of you and your family.
What will you wish for this year as you blow out your birthday candles?

I Love this post! I love the picture of CJ with Sammy on her head! That is so classic of that time in that house! :) Priceless friendships that last through thick and thin and through the years! Here is to your friendship! If it weren't for CJ...I would never have met you! Happy Birthday CJ...here's to another great year.

Happy Birthday CJ! :)
What a sweet post! I can so remember doing the things you mentioned with my BFF in high school, unfortunately our lives took us in totally different directions. You are so fortunate to still have your BFF.
That's so sweet! I met my best friend in 8th grade too, when I was the new girl in school! Neat, huh! Sounds like you're both lucky to have each other.
Happy Birthday CJ.
What a wonderful friend! That was a really sweet post, you are so lucky to have each other!
How lovely that you've stayed friends for so long. I've lost touch with most of my high school friends.
Beautiful! Such special memories and a tribute to your friendship!
Happy Birthday CJ!! Both of you are so blessed to have such a lasting loving friendship. I am only a little jealous:)
Enjoy your birthday and your continued friendship..
Great post! I have friends like that and I almost thought you were writing about us:-) Hee, hee, hee. Good friends are hard to come by. That was a great tribute to yours:-)
Hopefully I wasn't one of those boys that broke your heart. Unfortunately, I have a feeling I was. I sincerely apologize for any pain I may have caused, it was purely unintenional. I am very glad to see how happy you are in life.
