A little about me and my family...

My photo
My love of people, photography and the world began as a child. My family moved a lot and taking pictures was my way of remembering friends, capturing special places or moments and holding them close. Becoming a wife and a mother has always been a dream of mine and I count my blessings daily. I started this blog shortly after our daughter, Yaya joined our family through the blessing of adoption. Its purpose was to share pictures and stories about our life with family and friends. Later, it shared our adoption journey to our second daughter, Baby Bird as well. Now that our family is complete I like to think of it as our family’s journal or life book. I'm passionate about life, my family and preserving our history one snapshot at a time. The thing that amazes me most is the abundance of beauty God blesses us with every day and in the simplest ways if only we take the time to slow down and appreciate them.

Ya Ya Turns 2!!!

Ya Ya's birthday is actually Monday, July 7 but we celebrated it yesterday instead. Thankfully, my parents offered their house & yard for the party. She had so much fun. 6 other kids came plus their parents. We had a BBQ, water balloons, swimming and bubbles. It was an ice cream cone theme from the handmade invitations down to the cake & party favors. The cake was 20 cupcakes made to look like ice cream cones. My mom baked the cupcakes & we decorated them & put them in the cones. My dad cut & painted a board into the shape of a giant ice cream cone. Then, he cut holes in it to hold the cones upright until the kids were ready to sing Happy Birthday & eat. We left the sprinkles off so the kids could decorate them just before they ate them. They had a blast. I think more candy sprinkles went into their mouths than on the actual cupcake/cones but it was fun either way. Even the party favors were shaped like ice cream cones. To our happy surprise, the ice cream cone bubbles smelled like strawberry, chocolate & mint. Ya Ya had so much fun with her little friends & all the festivities. She couldn't believe her friends from the Little Gym & park were all in one place & for her. YEAH!!! Happy Birthday YA YA!!!
